The Ohio Homeland Security Office of Protection and Security was established in July 2004. Under the direction of Deputy Director Earl Mack, this office leads, integrates and coordinates the implementation of efforts among state departments and agencies, as well as local governments and the private sector in preparation against terrorist attacks. Executive Director William Vedra is responsible for establishing and providing updates to the Homeland Security Strategic Plan, which was released in September 2004.
